Jakarta (ANTARA) – Google Calendar as a service from Google is reported to no longer operate on devices that still use the Android Nougat 7.1 operating system and other older versions.
This news was reported by Phone Arena, on Saturday (25/11) local time, which reported that Google Calendar in its latest update to the Android Nougat 7.1 operating system displayed a notification that the service could not run on the operating system.
The application version with this update has code v 2023.46.0-581792699 displaying the notification “UnsupportedOperatingSystem__enabled”.

There is a high possibility that support for the Google Calender service on Android Nougat 7.1 will be discontinued due to security factors.
The operating system released in 2016 clearly no longer supports security updates and is of course more vulnerable to hacking attacks with the result that users could lose their data.
With these considerations in mind, for users who are comfortable using Google Calendar, users are advised to upgrade their operating system to a higher version such as Android Oreo 8.0 or a newer version by replacing their device.
Google also announced similar changes in early November for its Chrome service on desktop and Android.
They mentioned that Chrome version 119 on Android will be the last version supported on devices running Nougat and lower. Furthermore, Chrome 120 on Android can no longer be used on Android Nougat.
Google’s move to stop providing Chrome and Calendar services on Android 7.1 may not be the last and there will still be services that will not be able to serve in the future.
It’s a good idea for users to choose to buy a new device, which is currently more affordable and offers more reliable security updates.
