Badung Regency (ANTARA) – Apple reportedly still hopes to develop a foldable device in the form of a smartphone or foldable iPhone.
This is clearly different from previous reports which revealed that Apple’s plans to realize foldable devices were limited to tablets and Macs.
The latest information, which was first published by local Korean media Alpha Business with an unnamed trusted source, revealed that hopes for the development of a foldable iPhone became clear when this product was given a launch target in early 2027.

It’s been quite a long time for the Cupertino-based company to make thorough preparations in everything, including the supply and demand for folding screens.
However, it is known that the time period for checking and selecting component suppliers remains the same. Apple reportedly utilized products from Samsung Display and LG Display to provide prototype displays.
Apple is known to have patented a solution to reduce creases when the screen is folded in half and you could say this company is a pioneer because no other company has made a screen like this.
The solution involves etching grooves in ultra-thin glass and covering them with a flexible polymer. This way the screen panel is easier to bend and forms creases that are less visible.
In any case, it looks like Apple is planning to release a foldable iPhone at the same time as the 18th generation iPhone.
With this delay, it will probably launch it on its own or perhaps share it with a foldable iPad.
This tablet was initially expected to launch in 2026, but it is not yet known whether the foldable iPhone plan will also postpone its release to 2027 or not. This was reported by GSM Arena, Monday (18/3).
